Newport is an idyllic little town on Pembrokeshire’s north coast located between the towns of Fishguard and Cardigan. Newport has very loyal visitors with many spending the entire summer in
Newport every year and with good reason. Newport is an undeveloped haven with a laid-back way of life that acts as a perfect antidote to the excesses of modern life.

The village centre is extremely attractive and boasts a number of high-end shops and galleries, as well as quirky independent traders. A vibrant street market in Newport has been going successfully now for a number of years and is open on Mondays, from 0900 to 1300, weather permitting, from the beginning of April to the end of December. It promotes and sells local food and craft produce of exceptional quality.

All the essential services can be found in Newport including a dentist, doctors’ surgery, a pharmacy, a library and a thriving primary school with around 100 children on role. Secondary education is provided at Ysgol Bro Gwaun in Fishguard or Ysgol Y Preseli in Crymych.

Eating and Drinking

Newport is blessed with a plethora of cafes and restaurants. High end restaurants offering a la carte meals and extensive wine lists include Llys Meddyg and Tides. More casual dining is provided at the Golden Lion and The Canteen, and the excellent Blas offers great coffee and snacks with special Tapas evenings and events.

Leisure

With such natural beauty all around you, most of the leisure activities in and around Newport are based outdoors. This area is famed for its walking trails with amazing coastal views. The estuary is teeming with birdlife so attracts many birdwatchers whilst Newport Parrog is a draw for all things water based. It’s a perfect spot for kayaking up stream to Newport Bridge or down river out to sea and exploring the cliffs and caves of Cemaes Head. Newport has a sailing club with many events held throughout the summer and the links golf course at Newport Golf Club provides one of the best locations to swing a club.
